What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic SIM, you scan a QR code and the data plan is installed in about two minutes. Your regular SIM stays in your phone, so you keep your number for calls, SMS and WhatsApp.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most phones from 2019 onwards do: iPhone XR/XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and many others. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked. Check our compatibility page for the full list.
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it before you travel while you're on Wi-Fi, for example at home or at the airport. The validity period only starts once the eSIM connects to a supported network at your destination.
Do I get a phone number?
Our plans are data-only. You can still call and message with WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Telegram and similar apps, and your own SIM keeps working for regular calls and texts if you want.
Can I use it as a hotspot?
Yes, tethering/hotspot is allowed on all plans so you can share data with your laptop or travel companions.
What if I run out of data?
Many plans support top-ups. Otherwise you can simply buy a new plan, and it is delivered in seconds.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, as long as the eSIM has not been installed or activated, you can request a full refund within 30 days. Email support@gethopsim.com with your order email. If an eSIM doesn't work because of a technical issue on our side, we'll replace or refund it.
